SLOW PLAY

Slow Play has become the bane of golf at all playing levels, however the Seniors' Section at Whitchurch Golf Club has the opportunity to set a good example to all Club Members !

The "Etiquette of Golf" has a dedicated section on this subject, and the notes below are reminders to golfers of their personal responsibilities on the course

  • Be at your starting tee immediately after the group ahead have teed off, and be ready to play when they are out of range or cleared the green.
  • The GOLDEN RULE is to keep up with the group in front, if you drop a clear hole behind them and are causing delays to the group behind, call them through.
  • The 5 minutes allowed to look for a lost ball should not mean holding up the group behind, call the group through as you are searching for the ball.
  • If you leave the fairway to search for a lost ball and cannot be seen by the group behind, leave a golf bag/ trolly to show you are in range.
  • Be ready to play as soon as it is your turn and the group in front is out of range.
  • On reaching the green leave your clubs in a position to move quickly to the next tee.
  • If playing in a Competition, mark your partner's scorecard away from the green.
